Changes

As I'm sure you've all noticed, chapter releases have halted recently and the download links have become broken. As it is, I'm not sure I'm going to continue the translations. I'm sure you're aware of all the current US initiatives to stop online piracy and increase internet censorship. As such, these manga translations fall into a bit of a grey area due to the manga in question not being my property, and like all fan translators, I don't have permission from the game's producers to publish them online.

So for now, the likelihood of releasing the remaining chapters is rather low. But time will tell whether the project starts up again.

Thanks for your emails and comments. This blog will remain online for now, and if there's any updates I'll be sure to post here.

  1. Can't believe it's already happening even though SOPA and PIPA are not even rubber-stamp by the senate. Welcome to our dystopian government conspiracy future. A few years ago if someone claimed the senate would have the power to do that he would have been dismissed as a wackjob who watched to much x-files. Yet here we are. Anyway, I think you do a great job and we are all very glad you provide us with those chapters since there would be no other way for us to get them and be able to read them as well. Please keep up with the good work! You and your achievements would be dearly missed!

  2. And what about all the scanlation teams/dudes/dudettes out there that will go on? What about the people who took it to the streets or on their websites and stopped SOPA for now? ACTA is the next issue. They won't stop until they'll know everything we do, anytime, anywhere. So what? We will fight.

Because there's a catch to it. The people who protested were people like me, people like you. People. Human beings. Who like to share knowledge, fun, humor, art.

I don't care too much about the manga, as I love the game's narrative way more. But I do care about all Terranigma fans, and especially those who forgot Ark. And who let fear inside their souls.

I hope you'll win the battle. You were good at it, all the translation stuff, you were a caring person who shared little jewels in this grey world. Don't let your own Dark Gaia win over.

  3. Lousy jerks, that is all I can say. What's wrong with sharing somnething wonderful and fun like the terranigma manga with people who love the story and the original game???
You have done a brilliant job translating the first volume: I have read through the first 5 chapters a billion times by now and still find them as amusing as the first time I have read them.
My fingers are crossed that you can continue with translation of the second volume.

  6. This is a very very hard to find Manga that I almost give up finding it, and I'm glad to have been able to read even just the first Volume after so many YEARS. At least it gave me "Hope" to know that I might even be able to read Volume 2 as well after they opened the Pandora's boxed!

  7. Ah, I hope you'll decide to release the other volumes in the future. I was very glad to be able to read this manga.

  8. I would like to see it finished translated. It and many others that aren't well known are so often doomed to the little japanese niche because the 'higher powers' don't deem them worth translating.

  9. Dude/lady, just post the rest of the manga. There's people all over the net posting scanlations of new manga like Jojolion and Shaman King: Flowers and stuff. I doubt Enix even remembers they published this thing.

  10. This comic is over 15 years old, and no one is ever going to re-release it. Quintet doesn't even exist as a company anymore, so they don't care what you do. Heck, absolutely nothing to do with Terranigma has ever been released in America, which if going by their actions with the Mother 3 translation project, means Nintendo wouldn't care if you released this either.

The only thing stopping this project is you. I don't know if you've lost interest or if you're lazy or what. If you don't want to do this anymore, just say that. Don't try to use SOPA/PIPA as an excuse just so you can save face in front of the 5 people that actually care about this.

  13. Sad too see this not continued, but i will keep an eye one here with my fingers crossed. I was enjoy the different take on ark's adventures, but I do thankyou for what you had manage to do.

  14. Quintet went bancrupt and the owner of the company vanished. You can read that on the wikipedia site. I am pretty sure nobody will hunt you down if you go on with the translation.

  15. way late to be posting comments but seeing as SOPA and PIPA didn't really work out as the government had planned, maybe there's a chance that you might continue to translate the rest of the manga?
